Comment: Understanding OR, PS and DR

چکیده
We congratulate Kang and Schafer (KS) on their excellent article comparing various estimators of a population mean in the presence of missing data, and thank the Editor for organizing the discussion. In this communication, we systematically examine the propensity score (PS) and the outcome regression (OR) approaches and doubly robust (DR) estimation, which are all discussed by KS. The aim is to clarify and better our understanding of the three interrelated subjects. Sections 1 and 2 contain the following main points, respectively.

We Need Action on Social Determinants of Health – but Do We Want It, too?; Comment on “Understanding the Role of Public Administration in Implementing Action on the Social Determinants of Health and Health Inequities”
Recently a number of calls have been made to mobilise the arsenal of political science insights to investigate – and point to improvements in – the social determinants of health (SDH), and health equity. Recently, in this journal, such a rallying appeal was made for the field of public administration. This commentary argues that, although scholarly potential should justifiably be redirected to ...

Interaction between a structure under base excitation and heavy non-structural elements that it supports is significant in the seismic analysis and design of the structure. Heavy non-structural elements may slide/rock under base excitation, and this dynamic action affects the seismic behavior of the supporting structure. Hence, in this study, a numerical model was presented to describe the seis...

This commentary is a brief response to Nir Eyal’s argument that health policies should not make healthy behaviour a condition or prerequisite in order to access healthcare as it could result in the people who need healthcare the most not being able to access healthcare. While in general agreement due to the shared concern for equity, I argue that making health behaviour a condition to accessing...
